Old Lafayette Cb Radio

a time when we preparing to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his passing, here is a brief review of the discography part of this great musician too soon.

Released in 1983, this first album of Stevie Ray Vaughan beginning what many consider one of the Blues revival with the British Blues Boom of the 60's.
Surely the album more of his Blues discography and closer with Texas Blues shuffle boogies and very characteristic of this style ( Pride & Joy , I'm Cryin ' ...). It differs, however, it influenced by hendrix less present than on the albums that follow (But still present), particularly through the instrumental Testify . As played by Jimi Hendrix when he was changing within Isley Brothers . And the instrumental Lenny (dedicated to his wife Lenora) falls in the tradition of walking hendrix. With
Texas Flood, Stevie Ray Vaughan is part of an inheritance without transcending the genre.

Second album released in 1984, "Could not Stand The Weather " hendrix where the influence is overwhelming!
Whether the times "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" or even some personal component " Could not Stand The Weather "," Scuttle Buttin '"... inheritance hendrix SRV reintroduced in the Blues with varying degrees of success.
It receives far too often the velocity of Vaughan guitar but it s 'had to show great finesse and restraint as evidenced by his rendition of "Tin Pan Alley " very subtle.
With this second album is more than a second effort that book. It s 'acts clearly the restoration of the heritage hendrix in the Blues.

With this third album released in 1985 Double Trouble pass from trio to quartet with the arrival of the organist Reese Wynans .
Musically it is just a continuation of "Could not Stand The Weather " Hendrix is still the predominant influence in both the instrumental " Say What? " sort of "Still Raining, Still Dreaming "vaughnienne sauce. Or in the recovery of almost identical " Come On (Part I) " Hendrix renamed here " Come On (Part III) . SRV
not forget the Blues of course ... including a component in the mind of Albert King "Is not Gone And Give Up On Love .

Sole Live the life out of SRV appeared in 1986 - Live Alive is a real disappointment. Crammed with overdubs it absolutely does not do justice to the talent of SRV. It must be said at this stage of his career his addiction drug / alcohol is such that it is about to leave there life.

must wait until 1989 to review an album of SRV. It got rid of his addiction on rise again In Step . For many this is the album of maturity. It is true that it is full of really exceptional composition " Riviera Paradise," "Tightrope " particularly reveals a real creative leap and guitar. Unfortunately the album (like most other productions of Stevie Ray Vaughan) has a particularly dated her 80's who do a disservice to some components.
This is his last solo studio album.

Released in September 1990, Family Style benefited from a revolution in public following the death of Stevie Ray Vaughan August 27, 1990.
He brought the two brothers Vaughan around some songs reflecting on some of the good agreement of the two brothers but that quickly gives way to a sense of unfinished business.

Released one year after SRV's death, this posthumous compilation aims to leave the original material (such as "Life By The Drop " unique testimony acoustic guitar) and show its various influences such as Lonnie Mack "Wham " Kenny Burrell " Chitlins Con Carne " or replay quite personal " Little Wing" by Jimi Hendrix in an instrumental 6min50.
A real success and a tribute.
