What makes this album a must for the Blues?

is simply being the instigator of what we call the British Blues Boom (BBB) in the year 1966. While the Blues English already sticking his nose with the very roots of the early Stones, the Yardbirds and Alexis Korner. But it clearly with " Beano" (the album is commonly called so because of the comics read by Clapton on the cover) and under the auspices of the Mayall and Clapton Blues English explodes in the face of the world .
Allowing the transition to black American bluesmen to finally be recognized at fair value, not only across the Channel but also the land of Uncle Sam of course some white across the Atlantic did not wait for the British blues revival interest in the Blues.
Guitarist Michael Bloomfield as & the Paul Butterfield Blues Band had already adopted this music, but the number of listeners did not exceed the strict framework of black music lovers and did not elaborate beyond Chicago.

Mayall's Bluesbreakers & (factory Guitar Hero as we called it) will succeed in it the cream of English guitarists. Clapton course but Peter Green, who will leave to join Fleetwood Mac (before sinking into depression) and Mick Taylor will lead this leg bluesy best albums of the Rolling Stones.

The arrival of Eric Clapton alongside Mayall and his band is providential ... freshly landed he left the Yardbirds because dissatisfied with the direction taken by the commercial group. Eric Young (20 years old at the time) sees John Mayall mentor. And if his knowledge were Blues already well developed when he officiated in the Yardbirds, the group is with Mayall he finally finds a real basis for Blues free rein to his virtuosity.
Those who do not like the solos of stratospheric Clapton solo will be surprised. Here is all Les Paul out that gratifies us Clapton riffs and solos that today may seem stereotyped, but who at the time laid the foundations of Blues guitar.

course, there's no denying the contribution of Mayall to this album, he sings lead on almost all the titles and not counting the instrumental except " Rambling on my Mind "by Robert Johnson as he pushes a Clapton (FYI, this is the first song where we hear Clapton sing) shy gain confidence in her singing.
John Mayall in addition to be a vocalist more than adequate proof that the game has fully assimilated the great blues harmonica. particular Sonny Boy Williamson II , which we can only suggest listening to " Parchman Farm" and "Another Man .

One of the strengths of Beano, is to offer us both standard Blues (All Your Love, Hideaway, Another Man ...) and compounds that do not sound like vulgar copies (Key to Love, Have You Heard ...).
Surely this perfect alchemy that makes the success of the album to its release. A success that will be most beneficial to Clapton, who will see his reputation grow to see writing on the walls of the famous "Clapton is God . Slogan that annoying lugging the rest of his career. Usurped for some justification for other, remains the rest of his career due to give a little of that slogan.
After planting Mayall full tour (rumor has it his name was too far back from than Mayall), Clapton left to join an obscure training called "The Acorns " to finally team up with bassist Jack Bruce and drummer Ginger Baker and thus form Cream, the first supergroup History.
